This weekend I decided to surprise my husband and prepare him one of his favorite dishes, It was actually my daughters idea, My husband always share fond memories with us, of Puerto Rico and his favorite typical Isla Del Encanto dishes. He recently told us that he craved octopus salad like the one prepared by his aunt when he lived in Puerto Rico.

This habanero octopus salad is very delicious and easy to prepare, I’d decided to prepare it a little different and spice it up as I always like to reinvent recipes and give it that special touch, So the end result will be pleasing to the eye and palate.

While shopping at our local Walmart as part of #CollectiveBias, we entered  the Latino foods section where we found all these delicious ingredients that reminds us, of our Latino flavors and aromas. I was looking for that special ingredient that will take my dish to the next level, I decided to go with  EL Yucateco hot sauce made in Mexico, Its made with high quality ingredients and has a great taste.

My husband is a fan of spicy foods and wanted to add EL Yucateco hot sauce to one of his favorite dishes. I purchased two bottles of EL Yucateco hot sauce, “Green Habanero Sauce“ and the “Black label Reserve is exclusively available at Walmart”. I will be using these in future recipes, due to their versatility and great taste, They can be used in a wide range of dishes.

This recipe is easy to make and taste even better if stored over night. It can be served with fried plantains, rice and beans.

Ingredients

  • 4 cans of octopus
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 cup of avocado
  • Olive Oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • Salsa El Yucateco Green Habanero Sauce or Black label Reserve
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional :

Preparation:

  • Place the octopus in a bowl and add the vinegar, lemon.
  • Stir well, let marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  • After this time, add the remaining ingredients and place back into the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Accompany with fried plantains “ Tostones “ it goes well with the Octopus salad!

The habanero salsa adds a fabulous taste to the salad. what foods will you like spice up with EL Yucateco hot sauce?
